Green Malay Kratom: A Guide to Green and Super Green Malay

A white and teal package labeled "Kratom Earth Green Vein Premium Powder" with a mountain design and globe logo.

Green Malay is one of the best-known green vein kratom strains in Canada. It comes up in almost every conversation about green kratom, and it is often the first green that people try after starting with a red. This guide explains what Green Malay is, how it differs from Super Green Malay and the other greens, and how to buy it in Canada without overspending.

What is Green Malay kratom?

Green Malay is kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) leaf that is sold as a green vein strain. The name tells you two things:

  • “Green” is the vein colour. Kratom is sorted by the colour of the leaf’s central vein and by how the leaf is dried, which gives the familiar red, green and white groups. Our guide to kratom vein colours explains the system in more detail.
  • “Malay” refers to Malaysia, the origin the strain is named after. You will also see it sold as Green Malaysian or Malaysian Green. These are the same strain under different names. The Green Malay and Super Green Malay we sell are both grown in Malaysia.

Like every kratom strain name, “Green Malay” is a trade name rather than a botanical species. All kratom is the same plant. What changes from one strain to the next is the region, the age of the leaf, and how it is dried and milled.

How customers describe Green Malay

Customers usually describe Green Malay as bright but even, with a gradual, long-lasting feel rather than a sharp peak. Green veins in general sit between the calmer reds and the livelier whites, and Green Malay is often called one of the smoothest of the greens. That reputation is why so many people use it as an everyday green.

These are customer descriptions, not promises. Kratom is not approved by Health Canada to treat any condition, and the same strain can feel different from one person to the next.

Green Malay vs Super Green Malay

We sell Green Malay in two forms. Both come from the same green vein leaf. The difference is what goes into the mill.

Green Malay Super Green Malay
What is milled The whole leaf, vein included Leaf only: stems and the central vein are removed first
Texture Fine powder Finer, more even powder
25 g $8.99 $9.99
100 g $29.99 $36.49
250 g $59.99 $64.99
500 g $99.99 $109.99
1 kg $199.99 $199.99

Prices as of November 2026.

Customers who already like standard Green Malay tend to move to Super Green Malay when they want the same profile in a leaf-only powder. If you are trying the strain for the first time, start with a small bag of the standard version. At 1 kg the two cost the same, so regular customers who buy by the kilo often choose Super.

Green Malay compared with other green strains

Green Malay is one of several greens we carry. The main difference between them is the region the leaf comes from and how customers tend to describe it:

  • Green Maeng Da: “Maeng Da” is a grade name rather than a region, so it describes how the leaf is selected rather than where it grows.
  • Green Bali and Green Borneo: named for the islands of Bali and Borneo, and a common second everyday green for customers who rotate strains.
  • Green Sumatra and Green Kali: regional greens from Sumatra and Kalimantan.
  • Green Horn: named for its spiky, horn-shaped leaves.

Our kratom strain chart lists every strain with its vein colour and region side by side.

Buying Green Malay in Canada

Sizes

Both versions come in 25 g, 50 g, 100 g, 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg bags. The price per gram drops as the bag gets bigger, down to about 20 cents a gram at 500 g and 1 kg. Our bulk kratom guide works through the numbers.

Trying it alongside other strains

Green Malay is one of the choices in our 5 x 25 g sample pack and 4 x 100 g sample pack, so you can compare it with a red and a white in one order. It is also available in Mixed Kilos, and Super Green Malay is available in Super Mixed Kilos.

Format

We sell Green Malay as powder only. If you prefer capsules, our capsules section has leaf-only Maeng Da capsules.

Lab testing

Because kratom is not regulated as a health product in Canada, quality depends on the seller. Look for a third-party lab report for the batch you are buying. Ours are on our lab results page, and our guide to reading a certificate of analysis explains what each line means.

Shipping

Orders from a Canadian supplier ship within the country and do not go through customs. Orders over $129 ship free anywhere in Canada; see our shipping policy for details.

Storing Green Malay

Keep the powder in its sealed bag or an airtight container, somewhere cool, dry and dark. If you buy a large bag, split it into smaller containers so you are not opening the whole supply every time. Our kratom storage guide covers the details.

Frequently asked questions

Is Green Malay the same as Green Malaysian kratom?

Yes. Green Malay, Green Malaysian and Malaysian Green are different names for the same green vein strain.

What is the difference between Green Malay and Super Green Malay?

Standard Green Malay is milled from the whole leaf. Super Green Malay has the stems and central vein removed before milling, so it is a leaf-only powder.

Is Green Malay legal in Canada?

Kratom is not a controlled substance in Canada, but Health Canada has not authorized any kratom product for sale as a food, drug or natural health product. That is why kratom is sold in Canada as a botanical product without health claims. Our page on kratom’s legal status in Canada has the details and sources.

What size should I buy first?

Start with a 25 g bag or a sample pack. Move up to 250 g or more once you know you like the strain.

Kratom is sold in Canada as a botanical product for research purposes. Health Canada has not approved it to treat any condition and warns that it can cause dependence. Talk to a healthcare professional if you take medication or have a medical condition.
